Category: General news

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) second mission to Moon, Chandrayaan 2 suffered a technical snag on July 15th and so could not take off. ISRO scientists have extensively worked on the glitch and seems to have found the solution. Now they have announced the new launch date.

On July 22nd at 2:43 PM, Chandrayaan 2 will be flying into the sky, said ISRO in a Twitter statement. Chandrayaan-2 is India’s first lander-rover mission to the Moon and has an orbiter, lander and rover component. The landing has been planned for September 6th.

The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk-III) is ISRO's powerful rocket built to carry heavier payloads. Chandrayaan 2 will land at an unexplored site at the lunar south pole where no country has been before and India also hopes to be the first country to land at this site.
