It is important in today's generation to bring awareness on women empowerment and their respected position in society. India has been witnessing a phenomenal rise of woman achievers and in spite of many challenges that women face on a daily basis, they still rise high above all the adversities.

Here are 8 such successful and inspiring women to watch in 2019:

Nirmala Sitharaman:

Nirmala is an Indian politician and Minister of Defence with a huge fan base. She is admired and adorned for her unimaginable IQ levels. She has worked as a national spokesperson for the BJP. She is the first Indian woman to be a full-time Defence Minister. She owns a school in Hyderabad called Pranava. In 2003, Sitharaman was made a member of National Commission for Women. Her hard work has made her what she is today and Indians believe that she is one of the sensible politicians in today's world, irrespective of her political party.

Smita Sabharwal:

She is an IAS officer from 2001 batch. She secured 4th rank at the young age of 22 years. Known for her fierce attitude, she became the youngest officer to be appointed to the CM's office. She was honoured with the title, 'The people's officer'. She made many significant changes in the education sector and the health care system in Karimnagar. She became a role model for many aspiring collectors. Her usage of latest technology and government scheme on the field left a positive mark in her career.

Sonali Bendre:

This Indian actress is currently trending for winning the battle against metastatic cancer. Her willpower and confidence are what people admire the most. She also wrote a book called 'The modern gurukul- My experiments with parenting'. She runs a digital book club. She was called both inspiring and successful for bravely fighting back the deadly disease. Her magnanimity, inner strength, and perseverance are some of her positive traits. Mithali Raj:

Mithali is an Indian women's cricket team captain. She holds the title of highest run-scorer in International cricket and only woman to cross 6000 runs in WODIs. She also holds many titles like scoring most-half centuries and scoring seven consecutive 50s in ODIs.  She became immensely popular for her dedication in reaching 2000 WT20I runs. She is also the first women to play 200 ODIs. Known as the highest individual score by an Indian women cricketer in WC match, a biopic on Mithali will soon commence this year.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu:

Samantha is an Indian actress and a philanthropist. She is one of the inspiring women from the Tollywood industry who is also a brand ambassador for Telangana handlooms. Her philanthropy work received huge appreciation as she donates all of her earrings from endorsements and inauguration events. She also owns a charitable trust called Pratyusha Support which looks after the medical support of women and children. Through her charitable trust, Samantha pays hospital bills for many poor families and spread awareness on haemophilia disease. She runs an NGO which is majorly used to fulfil the last wishes of children who are suffering from deadly ailments.

Saina Nehwal:

There is no one in the world who doesn't know her. Saina Nehwal is an Indian badminton player who was a former world no.1, winning 24 international titles. She has proudly represented India in Olympics and the first Indian badminton player to win a medal in Olympics. She was also the first Indian to win many sports milestones like Super series, BWF major team series, 4-star tournament, and Commonwealth Games. She was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2016. She was also conferred with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna awards.

Priyanka Chopra:

Starting her career as a winner of Miss world 2000, Priyanka reached many milestones in her life. She became popular worldwide unlike many actresses. She was honoured with Padma Shri in 2016 by the government of India. She also falls among World's 100 Top powerful women list in 2018. Priyanka worked for UNICEF and was a brand ambassador for GoodWill child rights. She also raised her voice towards gender equality and feminism. Her movies like Mary Kom and Barfi proved her immense acting talent and she became a renowned talk of the town throughout the world. 

Malavath Purna:

Purna is a mountaineer from Nizamabad, Telangana district. Reaching the highest peak of Mount Everest at the age of 13, Purna became the youngest tribal woman in the world to do so. She is one of the most inspiring women we have from Telugu state and many young children look up to her. After climbing the mountain, she planted the Indian flag and sang National Anthem. It was the proudest moment for the entire nation. Her latest achievement was she climbed four highest mountain peaks located in four different continents.
