In a shocking accident, a 19-year old girl student, Lokeshwari, who participated in a mock drill conducted by NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority), fell to death after falling from second floor of that college building.
On thursday evening, this mock drill was organized by NDMA at Kalai Magal Arts and Science College in Coimbatore where Lokeshwari is pursuing BBA course. Both boys and girls were asked to assembly for the drill where they're asked the students to jump from the second floor of college building as part of the training to escape disaster strikes.
The incident captured on a mobile phone by the people gathered at the drill shows how badly Lokeshwari was hit to the ledge of first floor after being pushed by trainer TR Arumugham as she was reluctant to jump off the building. The victim was declared dead by the doctors at a nearby hospital in Coimbatore. The video clip is now going viral on social media and being telecasted across all media channels.
Knowing this incident, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu E Palaniswamy announced an ex gratia of 5 lakh to the bereaved family and asked the officials to take the strict action. The police officials have already registered an FIR against trainer AR Arumugham for failing to follow the guidelines for conducting mock drills.
