Dry Days In Store For Tollywood
Category: Telugu Movie News

Tollywood trade has witnessed disappointing trends in all the big festive seasons this year. During the Sankranthi season, except F2, all the big releases bit the dust. Then came Maharshi in the summer season which fared decently, while other movies failed to set the cash registers ringing. And Saaho released for the Independence Day weekend, but the film's collections didn't reach the expectations.

And now, Sye Raa opened in cinemas as a Dasara festive treat for fans and is having an okayish outing at the box office. While the film's actual fate will be sealed on Monday, reaching the break even mark seems to be tough due to the high asking rates.

After Sye Raa, apart from a few small budget movies, Tollywood trade rnwill not witness another film in the next couple of months which will rnensure the buyers and producers laugh their way to the bank.

Even though Venky Mama was supposed to be released for Diwali, chances of its release look bleak as the makers have not launched the teaser yet. Also, Venky Mama is a medium budget film and its market will be limited.

Trade circles may find some solace only during the Christmas season, when a handful of medium range movies such as Bheeshma and Disco Raja will be released. And then, the real festival for the trade circles begin only in the Sankranthi season, ending almost a two and a half months of dry period.
